Zach Tolan was awarded a US Patent for his music notation system in 2018. He is a classically trained musician who has taught tens of thousands of music lessons and classes since 2002. Mr. Zach has studied with members of the Grand Rapids Symphony, taught for Marshall Music Co., published work on Cognitive Ergonomics and makes virtual music courses as a community expert for Niles Public Schools and Hamilton Public Schools in West Michigan. He holds a Bachelor’s in Arts from GVSU. Mr. Zach is discussing what instruments are best to begin with.

Have you ever wondered what instruments are best for young kids to learn? If you’re like many people, you might think piano is the best instrument for kids to start on – and in many cases, that’s true! But there is a whole family of instruments that each have their unique strengths and appeal to children.
In this Teddy talk, Mr. Zach will show you the top five instruments for kids, how they work, how they relate to each other, and demonstrate each of them for you in a way that should provoke your young child’s interest and curiosity!
